Sam & Sons Services covers 24 communities across Northern Virginia and Washington DC from its office in Alexandria. All five trades — plumbing, heating and cooling, electrical, handyman and remodeling — are available everywhere in the Virginia service area. The single exception is Washington DC, where handyman, electrical and remodeling work is offered but plumbing and HVAC are not. Pick your community below for local detail, or call (703) 256-8080 and the office will tell you straight away whether your address is covered.
Every service area, grouped by where it sits
The list below is the whole service area. If your community is not on it, call and ask rather than assuming — the boundary is a drive time, not a hard line, and the office can answer in seconds.
Twenty-four communities are covered from one shop in Alexandria, and the groupings below are simply how the map divides in practice: the inner communities closest to the office, the central Fairfax County band, the western Fairfax and Dulles corridor towns, the Potomac-side communities, Prince William County, and the District of Columbia. The grouping affects scheduling and which permit office a job goes through. It does not change the trades available, the way a job is priced, or the standard the work is held to.
Each community below has its own page covering the trades offered there and how work is scheduled locally. Those pages are the fastest way to confirm coverage before you call.
Alexandria, Arlington and the inner service areas
- Alexandria — where the office sits
- Arlington
- Falls Church
- Annandale
- Merrifield
These are the shortest runs from the shop, which matters most on emergency calls and on jobs where a second trip for a part would otherwise cost you a day.
Central Fairfax County service areas
Permitted work in this group is issued and inspected by Fairfax County. We pull and process the permit ourselves and hold the final portion of payment until the county inspection passes.
Western Fairfax and the Dulles corridor
Sterling sits in Loudoun County, so permits there go through a different office than the Fairfax County work — same process on our side, different counter.
McLean, Vienna, Oakton and Great Falls
Properties on well water rather than public water turn up more often in this part of the service area, which changes a water service line job and rules the pressure conversation differently. See water service line replacement.
Prince William County service areas
These are the longest runs in the service area. All five trades are available, and scheduling is usually grouped so the crew is not making the drive twice for one job.
Washington DC: what we do and do not offer
- Washington DC — handyman, electrical and remodeling only
Plumbing and HVAC are not offered in Washington DC. The three trades we do take there — handyman and home repair, electrical and remodeling — are performed to District of Columbia code, with DC permits pulled and processed the same way they are in Virginia.
If you have a plumbing or heating problem at a DC address, say so on the call and we will tell you immediately rather than sending someone who cannot legally do the work. Being told no in thirty seconds on the telephone is better than waiting a day to be told the same thing on your doorstep.
What is the same in every service area
The address changes. The way the work runs does not:
- One licensed company holds all five trades — Virginia DPOR class A contractor license #2705070610, licensed, bonded and insured.
- An estimator comes to the property and puts the price in writing before any work starts. No prices by telephone, no prices published online, anywhere in the service area.
- Permits are pulled and processed by us in whichever jurisdiction the property sits in, and permitted work is not closed out until the final inspection passes.
- Work is performed to the Virginia building code, or to District of Columbia code in the District.
- One year of warranty on our labor.
- The emergency line is answered 24 hours a day across the whole service area.
Note one thing we do not do: we do not attribute jobs to towns. Work described anywhere on this site is described by what it involved, never by whose house it was or which street it was on. More on how the company operates is on about Sam & Sons Services, and contact covers what to have ready when you call.
